Thanks for all the help here. I have figured out what I can do. The problem was with Kindlefeeder and Amazon both neglecting to tell me that when Kindlefeeder sends an .AWZ file to free.kindle.com, where I can't get it without paying a fee, they also send me a regular email with the link to a source that will download the files to my computer.

Kindlefeeder assumes that you already know this will happen, and Amazon tech support didn't know this was happening when I asked them. I tripped across this in one of their web pages and it was mentioned as an afterthought.
