There was a Catholic church in my neighborhood when I was growing up that did just about that! They took up their lawn and laid cement instead. The real kicker though, was that they dyed the cement green. No joke...

That was more than 50 years ago. Recently I took a virtual walk along those neighborhood streets (having not seen them in almost 40 years) via GoogleMap and see that the church has removed the cement and replanted its lawn. Progress.
