One semester I had two hundred plus students so I assigned three students to each country. The three students who were assigned to Great Britain told me that Germany bordered Great Britain. Then they argued with me when I returned their paper and they had been marked down. I pulled out a map and they still argued with me.

It is really, really sad what students don't know.

And most thought that Africa was one country and did not get the difference between a continent and a country.

I drank heavily after grading.
