anamardoll is correct that you can move up in size using a backup image but you can not put a larger image on a smaller SD card. If you put a smaller image on a larger card then you need to use a disk utility to expand the last SD partition to take advantage of the larger card. You may be disappointed in the performance of CM7 on the slower class SD cards, but it will work.
