It is difficult to see how it can not be open source - but I cannot answer the legal questions. Down the road, they seem to say it will be opened, while this is not quite according to how these things should work. So currently - there are no released source.
Another nice feature could be an API - which could then help to integrate a browser and other functions. Lynx would be a nice candidate.

Thanks for your respond. yes. an API could be very handy. but since _ i think _ Duokan is very Linuxish, maybe porting be very easy with available source code. I see great features in Duokan and Kindle for geeks. in opposite of Pocket-PCs or other handhelds i had before.
Today i faced with a problem. can anyone read PDFs with owner password protected? owner password is only necessary for changing in document. but i can't read them in Duokan. even can't read them on my GNU/Linux machines.
