I've had my graphite Kindle since early December, and there is minor (but noticeable) wear on the right side of the Del key and also on the 5-way controller. I use the 5-way a lot when I play games, and I also use those buttons when testing my .mobi files to make sure that chapter-skipping works properly, so I probably use the 5-way more than many people.

The wear that's occurred so far doesn't bother me. I haven't been using the keyboard very often (except when entering numbers for Sukoku, etc.), but now that I'm using the Notepad and Calendar Pro apps I am using the keyboard more, so I may start to see wear there. If the letter keys do wear off, then that may be irritating.
