hail is made of ice. I think it depends on humidity and how high the moisture goes to get frozen at high altitudes. Yes it is still warm enough (just).

the storm went away and no hail here. pheww! Bloke stayed home with car in garage and had a cup of tea and then went out again. No broken panels no bingled car.

We had lots of lightning, but not even very much rain in the end. The storm warning said Brisvegas had hail earlier.
