+1 to this thread - I think it's terribly ridiculous/annoying that the pre-loaded books can't be deleted/removed/archived permanently.

I also do not like this trend of new un-deletable books. At first it was just the quick guide and user manual. Now we have the cook book to show off the flash capabilities. Are we going to have a new "stuck with it forever" book each time they push an update?

I'm not a child, B&N, and I am a control-freak, so let me control my books, please.

(At least we were able to delete the 2 free children's books.)
