Finally recieved an answer from Barnes and Noble about the Nook not working in the Ipod Touch: (error message 1001)

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your inquiry and interest with the NOOK Apps.

The NOOK Apps is being run through the Android Operating System, thus,
enables your Android phone to activate the applications. Your iPad works
on a different OS. This is the reason your iPad is unable to open and
activate the application with your device.

The NOOK Color is absolutely able to open social networking sites with
the web browser functionality designed for the device.
