I think the books on such lists are subjective myself. I mean if you enjoy a story you will find yourself having a harder time putting the book down even when you should due to other things that need doing. On the other hand if a book doesn't catch your interest for some reason it will take longer to finish it (if you in fact do). I've read about 7 of the books on the list though not usually in one sitting. Animal Farm for example is one I read in English class back in High School.
