That, destroying physical books, doesn’t sound that hypothetic to me. I for myself converted I guess 100 books into PDFs by cutting and scanning it, not only old schoolbooks but more expensive ones. My standpoint is: not the book itself rather the information, the content is of value. At least for newer releases.
