OmniPage 17 does excellent recognition, probably better than FineReader.
But when it comes to scanning and reading books, FineReader 10 Pro is the no-brainer choice. (Well, that's just my opinion.)
With an Epson GT-S50 (duplex and ADF) plugged into FR10 I can scan a 200 page book in about ten minutes.
