The thing about eBay is, there are no "new" items on eBay. If it's being auctioned off, it's at least some form of used, even if it's still in the box.

You can still get good deals on eBay. I've been on both ends of some pretty low prices. But it's about popularity. The 3rd generation DX is a pretty hot item right now. You can save yourself some money by going with a previous generation. I've seen those for as low as $300. In fact, that's how I got my first Kindle: I waited until the Kindle 2 was out for a while, and then I got the Kindle 1 on eBay.
