Sorry, but my thread reading interests roam all over the place. The length of a thread doesn’t affect me one way or the other. I’ll check “hot topics” only after I check the areas where I have the most interest, but not all that often.
When you have a long thread with many, even hundreds of, postings you’ll see a great many who have obviously not even read the OP, never mind even reading the last dozen posts before making a comment. Their out of context posts will often cause me to ignore the thread.
Speaking of "out of context posts";
There are a number of people that I consider trolls (this does not refer to those with whom I simple disagree). Strangely enough I’ll check out the threads that they started to see what they’re like when not on the attack. I don’t think that I’ve ever posted a comment in the threads that they started.
On the other hand, there are some active trolls whose minds are so closed as to be an alien life form. Reading their post would be pointless and a stupid waste of my time.
