That's fair. I gave the first book two stars ("it was ok") and noted, "Long, rambling, boring. The characters were one-dimensional with one-dimensional motivations and it was too easy to see through the flimsy conflict the author tried to set up." Probably deserved one star, but I desperately wanted to read anything about the Elderlings.
