For some reason manufacturers insist on changing names of things sold in different countries. My last motorcycle was called a Honda 'Steed' in Japan, but called a 'VLX' in the US. The Vitz in Japan is indeed the Yaris in the US. I don't know why it needed to be changed. Most movies get a name change when they are shown here too.
Sometimes the changes are needed though. We have a sports drink here called "Pocari Sweat." I doubt that would work in English Speaking countries. And the famous Chevy Nova didn't sell at all for obvious reasons when it was brought to Spanish speaking countries!
