Is 1984 wrong?

One perspective (the one I tend to lean towards) is this.

We don't have to worry about "Big Brother" taking over...we've created him ourselves in the quest for "convenience and safety" and then handed him the keys to the castle.

(edit...though perhaps I should save this discussion for later or another thread)
