I don't know why people insist on classifying 1984 as science fiction. It is not, despite the "speakwrite" and the "telescreen". 1984 is a political novel, a critic of autoritarism in general and Stalinism in particular. That's why it so interesting today. And it certainly has not been "proven wrong".
