Black Pandigital Novel 9"

My Mother is looking for an eBook reader to read some fiction, but mostly the PDF files that she gets from her groups. She tried the Kobo but found the 'pan and scan' to be too distracting. (she bought it without checking with me first)

She saw the Pandigital at Costco and gave me a call to ask about it. I don't know much about the android systems to I come to the experts. Would this Canadian Pandigital Novel work for her needs? How easy would it be for her to side load the non-drm PDF files onto it and have them recognized by the Kobo application? Would I need to talk her through loading any additional software or firmware? How about Calibre, if she loaded her eBooks in would she be able to use Calibre to send them to this device?

Thanks! I know I have lots of questions, but I've been focused on eInk and Windows Mobile for so long I'm out of touch with what Android is doing.
