Hah! I had the opposite reaction! I began to really devour the book once the body parts started flying!

I have no problem with violence and gore in a book if it seems appropriate to the story. I can't seem to take it as well in visual mediums (e.g. movies) though. Rape is a different story, that really depends on how the author handles it

On the topic, I'm currently still halfway through Technological Slavery by Ted Kaczynski. I'm still mustering up the courage to read the rest. It's good, but the call for the end of all technology is brutal to say the least.
