Calibre Opening then "Freezing"

I too have been having issues with calibre for some time now. I am able to open the program and view the list of books. However, any significant action (Edit Metadata, Open Preferences, etc) basically anything beyond scrolling through the list or basic searches result in the application freezing. Windows does not seem to recognize this application fault, as it reads as "running" and there is no dump file generated, nor any mention in the Event Log (System, Application et al).

In addition the "calibre-debug -g" provides no results, infact it appears to "freeze" as well, as seen below:

C:\Users\UserXO>calibre-debug -g
Starting up...
Started up in 2.38400006294

I have removed Calibre (completely, every trace) then reinstalled several times. I have also removed every non-essential program from the system (toolbars, out of use browsers, IE extensions, junkware that came with the laptop etc) as well as any that have been added since the Calibre stopped working. However, I have not reverted to previous Windows Builds nor removed patches, as that would make not sense and the system is completely up to date. I should mention that yes Calibre worked great up until one of the calibre updates. Also I have not had a single problem with any other application. Everything else is running perfectly.

Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. I have put this off as long as I can using another app and manually locating books...but I have near 4000 titles most in at least two formats epub and mobi.

Thank You.
