Re Quality Check - any issues you have you should post in it's thread, it just so happens I might know the guy who wrote it. It sounds like though you just wanted it out of your right-click menu (I just keep it on the toolbar myself). You can do this in Preferences->Toolbar and place it wherever you like. And no you cannot "disable" a UI plugin - you either remove it from your menu/toolbar or uninstall it as you did.
