If you allready have the dropbox app installed on your ipod and you have dropbox in your ubuntu computer, you most certainly is able to share the installation file, but whether it is possible to install it is a different case. iDevices is designed to be administered via Appstore and iTunes, and I don't think it is possible to "run" an installer on the ipod the same way you run an .exe file in windows. My guess would be that the installation should be done from the apple equivalent of the linux repositories, i.e. the apple store.

You could try to visit an internet café or something, hook the ipod to wifi and download from appstore, I think that would be the easiest. I'm shure Tokyo has quite a few of these cafees
