Yes, when I had my device, I had to create an having a valid account with B&N. And in order to do that, you must enter a credit card. If your credit card is not a USA one, the system will not accept you.

you just "skip" that option and then the nook is just a regular ereader that is not tied into BN's ecosystem.

you then just sideload your ePub PDB ore PDF books and you are all set. You do not need to set up a BN's account to operate the device.

What other lies and distortions you got?

also you never answered my question do you need an American Credit card to buy books from other ebookstores that sells ePub books?
