It is probably the sd card you are using. They make a big difference in the performance and worse, the key specs are not shown before you buy it to be able to know for sure what would be a good card in advace.

For example see http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...2#post12964262 which shows a benchmark that shows a class 2 card greatly outperforming a class 6 card for small random writes which is a key spec needed here, and not the sequential writes spec that would be the key spec for use in a camera for example.
