I have to agree on the similarities between Rothfuss' Kvothe and Hobb's FitzChivalry characters. I'm also reminded of Severian and his "unreliable narrator"-ness from Gene Wolfe's The Book of the New Sun.

I find it all very entertaining, but Rothfuss has a slight case of diarrhea of the word-processor. A slightly more aggressive editor could fix that right up.
