Yes, „nomally“ we have it all at hand – the appearance, the smell, the gestures, the posture, the hands, the look in one’s eyes – and at least in the beginning this is (very) important.
What if this all comes last? When you fall in love without having seen the other one? Which part does the “optic” play then?
