Limiting themselves to only one provider does not sound like a good idea. And it's hard for me to imagine that Amazon would pay much of a premium to have a F&SF exclusive - it's not like they are going to be the next Amanda Hocking.
However, it is quite relevant that their current strategy seems to be failing - since they are not succeeding with un-drm'd multiformat subscriptions, maybe trying exclusivity seemed to be the only viable option, as they know that they will fail if they continue to do what they are doing.
Or does Amazon pay more for subscriptions than other providers? I.e., could it be the case that there is no exclusive deal with Amazon, but that F&SF have just chosen, for now, to just work with Amazon because they will somehow make more money that way.
