the problem is, I tried The Mortal Instruments (City of Bones) and I didn't like it. I tried The Girl who... (forget what she did, maybe she kicked some nests) and I didn't like it. I tried Mistborn and I didn't like it. and now I tried Songs of Ice and Fire and I didn't like it, again!!!! it's a little bit frustrating, is it not?
The Mortal Instruments were fun, but certainly not the best thing I've read, a little too full of teenage angst for me. I couldn't get into the "The Girl Who..." I read the first 100 pages or so of the first book, and I can't remember disliking a book as much as that one when I first started reading it. I really liked Mistborn (although there were some cheesy parts, but overall I really enjoyed it). I loved Songs of Ice and Fire. Different strokes for different folks, there is no problem with that!

Mortal Instruments is interesting, but I don't like that kind of stuff: teenagers, monsters, vampires... no thanks. Right now I don't have the mood to read books connected to youngsters.

Mistborn: nothing impressive at the beginning.

Songs of Ice and Fire: too many names to get acquainted to, another book with magical creatures. of course I didn't read more than the first 100 pages but I don't feel like reading that kind of book right now.

and Riyria revelations, it focuses on 2 adults, with more mature issues. It contains little magic and few unreal things. complex-enough plots. good sense of humor in the right place, at the right time.

should I try reading all of them again? (I mean Mortal Instruments, Mistborn, Songs of Ice and Fire.)
I love the Percy Jackson series, and the Riyria Revelations. Try watching the first two eps of the Song of Ice and Fire series, perhaps. The magical elements in the story are pushed into the background later in the book, I would rate it as similar to the Riyria revelations; in fact, there is less magic in the Songs of Ice and Fire series, and it deals with mature issues and complex plots. Judging by your comments, I think that you might like the series, but perhaps the beginning just failed to grab you. If you don't feel like reading it, don't worry, not everyone has to have the same taste!
