For me the news here is how careless Apple is being with private data and that they are logging the data when they have no valid reason to do so. They can provide location awareness without logging the data.
It's obvious that Apple has the location awareness service and I like that you can enable and disable it by application but it's not acceptable that they would log a years worth of the unprotected location data and replicate it to any computer you sync with.
I find it disturbing that someone with two minutes of access to my niece's computer could lift a file that shows where and when she's been for the last year. I'm surprised that people just accept this when there's no valid reason for a company to be so negligent with personal data.
