Are you sure that was me? My reason for not liking tea strainers is simply because you have wash them, period! I'm lazy. My reason had nothing to do with the taste, just the work involved.

A week ago my wife put our strainers into a dishwasher.
They came out like a new. However, the smell! I could not stand it! The strainers reeked with the dish washing liquid! Horrible

I can imagine that! I can usually tell when someone uses a dishwasher.

No... I'm pretty careful about the smells and tastes that affect my cooking utensils. A strong smelling soap would overpower some of the delicate herbs and spices. I grow three different oreganos and two different rosemarys because of the taste and smell differences. Strong soap would cover those up.
