There are some strange behaviors with certain things not working properly until you have made 10 posts over a period of a week. This is a probational membership time to avoid spammers. For example you can't link outside the site and you can't have a signature line. It is likely that the behaviors will straighten out after a bit but you will need to login to see the edit menu item.
