Noobie Questions

Hi,

I just installed Calibre today and have been messing about with and am very pleased so far. I am mostly using it to convert mobi to epub so I can fix errors within the books, then convert them back to mobi so I can read them on Kindle. If anyone knows a more efficient method please let me know!

I noticed when I convert to epub and then back to mobi that the images within the book shrink. When zoomed they still come to full size but without the zoom they are about 40-50% smaller. Does anyone know why this is? Is this just the way the Kindle reads the file after it has been in epub format?

I also noticed that when I have mobi --> epub --> mobi a book, they frequently have the chapter skips in the progress bar on Kindle when they had none before. Obviously this is a most welcome improvement but I am curious as to what action I am taking that automatically adds this feature so I can use it intentionally

And my last little question would be: Is there a way to simply set a year in the publish date for the metadata? It only seems to allow a month/year format.

Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
