Among the many dwarf planets in our solar system is one named Eris. It has its own moon, named Dysnomia. These are now the official names of these heavenly bodies; but while the naming process went on, they had aquired other names. Some people are sad that these other names didn't eventually become the official names of this dwarf planet and its moon (perhaps even certain MobileRead members).

What were these unofficial names that were so popular with many astronomers as well as many lay people?
