One day (about a week ago) Kindle crashed 4 times in a row, in a 1 hr period, nothing else was active. I had to uninstall and reinstall the whole app. It happened one more time after that.
I've had a couple of apps that crashed on iPad, like the Facebook app. and Zinio (before most recent upgrade) but no problems with Kindle there.
Today I just downloaded most recent version, let's see ....
