Do you not have any metadata in your library?
When browsing folder you not seeing anything other then what os provides is an os feature and not that of any application you might use to manage your books/files.
The tags are actually pretty neat, you don't have to reuse the existing ones, you can define your own. That's what I do for omnibuses.
