Rock, if you're rooted you can use root explorer to change the sdk to 8 in the build.prop file and you'll be set. Probably not worth it for Kindle, but well worth it for other apps. (I think maybe you need the volume key hack to get to the menu on this one though--not sure)
This new version worked on the Pandigital, but when I sideloaded another book, no books showed up: the sample books disappeared and the sideloaded one did not show up.
