So publishers and authors made very little off of me. But with ebooks, they are now getting the money from me instead of the used book stores getting is.

Or at least the authors and publishers who "get" ebook pricing are getting paid from me. The rest are being ignored until they change their pricing.
I'm in the same boat. Before my e-reader, I read less, and I either (1) borrowed books from the library (2) borrowed from friends (3) bought used paperbacks. Last hardcover I bought I think was in 2001 for Tad William's Sea of Silverlight.

Ever since I bought my e-reader back in 2010, I've been spending $10-$25/month on ebooks. Ebooks are bringing $$$ in to where there weren't a lot of purchases before. I'm also in the fortunate position now of having access to all sorts of great indie speculative fiction (book blogging is awesome), but I suspect that I'll still spend that amount of money anyway just because I find the Kindle very hard to detach from my hand, and the device needs to be fed.
