Well the first thing that comes to mind is Mr Dos would get pretty mad!

Actually learning DOS will help to give you a better understanding of how the operating system works under the covers. I'm not sure how true it is any more but I'm pretty sure that even as recently as vista the underlying code for windows was pretty much unchanged.

The other alternative would be to begin learning the command line of one of the *nix flavors. Not only are they still relevant, but they can be pretty useful as well.
