The short answer: Convert to ePub, and hope it comes out readable.

Longer: how well PDF converts depends on what program the PDF was originally formatted in, and what software did the conversion to PDF. If it was done well, converting from PDF will maintain the text of the columns, although it'll almost certainly put a paragraph break at the end of each column.

If it was done poorly, the conversion will put a paragraph break at the end of every line, resulting in very very short lines of text.

If it was done with archaic software, the conversion will read *across* the page, grabbing one line from each column before moving down to the next.

If the originals are scanned image-only PDFs, nothing will convert them easily or well. Look into PDF cropping software to make 3 pages out of each original page, one per column.
