Like any rumor take this with a grain of salt, but Peter Rojas over at gdgt claims he is 99% certain Amazon has chosen Samsung to build their tablet.
Not real surprising news considering Amazon has an Android App store, Cloud Music storage. The next progression really is to hook people into those products by selling real cheap hardware that integrates nicely with Amazon.

Amazon will make a similar assumption*, except that they won't just be selling you Kindle books, they'd also use the tablet as a platform for selling music (see that cloud locker they just rolled out?), video (you can bet Amazon Instant Video will be a big part of this), and apps from the Android app store.
