i think it's horrible that my dad scolded my brother for having adopted a kitty (he and his fiance did). now he emailed me and asked if dad already said a lot (of bad things) about the kitty. i don't see why a son should have to worry about that *kicks dad*

random rant: it may just be me, but with so many options available, i hardly see any need to go to the darknet for ebooks. that is, unless publishers just decide they want to be dicks and withdraw the lending rights of ebooks *scowl* but i mainly feel uncomfortable pirating ebooks, compared to other forms of media. although i don't think there would be much pirated copies of the genre fiction that i read on the darknet, but maybe that's just because i don't try to look and tempt myself. i mean...i'm ranting because my brother emailed me to ask (he's in singapore now) about my kindle, and we got to talking about ebooks and he asked me if there were pirated ebooks (for the kindle, i think), and i said i didn't know because i have other avenues of getting my ebooks legally (and i just feel damn guilty) and i told him he could borrow ebooks from the singapore library but that it would be in epub format and this was where he said he just downloaded torrents of ebooks :|

but i think that with physical books, at least we'd know which ones are the fake ones, and which ones are real, at least most of the time. with ebooks, aren't they the same digital file? D: just thoughts whirling around in my head. i mean, i could try and follow giggleton's reasoning and say that this is just what society wants us to think and real freedom comes with limitless sharing o_o
