Which is why you are just fine.

I had read similar reports when I was learning about Yerba Mate. If the problem really is the hot water and not the Matte, then anyone who drinks any beverage at too hot a temperature will have this problem.

My take on it was that it was linked to the Mate because of the way that the mate was drunk. Small, concentrated amounts, at very high temperature which could damage thr throat. Toss in smoking and you have an area that is vunerable due to being burnt to other problems.

(shrugs)

I did not worry about it a few years back and I am not worried about it now. I might drink a copious amount of tea but it is rarely hot enough to burn my throat.
