From 1st April all Scottish prescriptions are now free of charge. Before that, prescription charges were no higher in Scotland than in England, and pre-payment certificates were also available in Scotland.

Prescription charges have also been abolished in Wales and Northern Ireland, but before they were abolished, I'm sure that pre-payment certificates were also available there.

England currently has the highest prescription charges (i.e. any at all) of the four main parts of the UK.
