Outside of the doctor and nurses, I've only had one person start a conversation about my Kindle in a doctor's waiting room. When she did, another fellow mentioned he had a Sony, but he didn't know what model he had, and didn't seem to know much about it.
My dentist, along with the dental hygienist, the aides and receptionists who work in his office, are always asking what I'm reading.
I've yet to see anyone but me with an e-reader in public, although one of my workmates occasionally brings his NookColor. He's not much of a reader, though.
