I think it points to Amazon's problem with this product: People who already have Kindles are interested in the offers, but they're not interested in the ad-supported Kindle. And I suspect those that don't already have the Kindle would be interested in them if there was a price drop.

Basically, I see the target for this product to be those for whom the $25 difference is a make or break issue for them in regards to getting a Kindle. I don't see that as a particularly large group.
