It seems to me like everything in the 'plugged-in' society is, to some degree, distracting. ADD has become a way of life.
Better to live it with less links to click on.

I'd worry about creep too with something like this:
first it's just ads on the screensavers and then the next thing you know, starbucks is paying authors for product placement!
Hyperbolic I know, but still- ad-creep!
I'm certainly not planning on buying one of the ad-supported devices, and I'd be concerned if it went any further than that, but I don't think their ad format is bad in itself. I'd rather buy one than not, if I had $120 to spend on a reader, but not $140.
