If we're talking about equality and I think that we are, there is only one thing for it... Abolishment of copyright, all texts available at any time to everyone, those with the resources WILL PAY, those without the resources will pay what they can. The existence of libraries suggests that the system can work, I don't buy the idea that mean people will take advantage of all the content and not give back anything in return.
Eventually only the texts that matter will be supported, all the rest will sit and wait until they are needed.
Also, google bought some ebook reader manufacturer a few months ago, not sure what they're doing there. A free ereader for everyone would be nice, I doubt the stockholders would go for it though, do you own stock in google?? Do you think more people reading is a good thing....
