hmmm - interesting. I know that you have to make a whispernet (3G or WiFi) connection once to manage collections etc, but I always thought you could register via the website and download books.

When you purchase via your computer are you choosing to download a book for Kindle for PC/Mac or are you specifically downloading for that particular Kindle?

Regardless, if you're tired of messing with it I'd recommend you strip the DRM w/ Calibre + Plug-ins and move them over to the Kindle that way.
