Well, yes it could... be the Civil War ... specifically the Battle of Fort Sumter began on April 12, 1861, when the bombardment and surrender of Fort Sumter, near Charleston, South Carolina, opened the American Civil War. Ironically, during the 2 days of shelling, there was no loss of life on either side.
The opening battle of the bloodiest war fought on American soil killed no one!
